JR’s Mower & Motorcycle (ABN 48 410 146 424) (“JR’s”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information when you visit jrsmotorcycle.com.au (our “website”), contact us, buy from us online or in store, or use our workshop services.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. The personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us, and may include:

  • Contact details – such as your name, email address, phone number and postal or delivery address.
  • Enquiry details – information you give us when you contact us through our website contact form, by phone, by email, in store or via social media.
  • Order details – the products you buy, billing and delivery details, and your order history. Online payments are processed by third-party payment providers – we do not store your full card details.
  • Vehicle and equipment details – such as make, model, registration, VIN or serial number and service history, when we service or repair your motorcycle or garden equipment, carry out a roadworthy inspection, handle a warranty claim, or buy, sell or trade in a vehicle or machine.
  • Account details – if you create an account on our online shop, your login details and account information.
  • Website usage information – such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how you arrived at our website and how you interact with it. Much of this is collected using cookies – see our Cookie Policy.

We don’t generally collect sensitive information (such as health information). If we ever need to, we will only do so with your consent or where the law allows.

2. How we collect personal information

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you – for example, when you fill in a form on our website, place an order, call or email us, message us on social media or visit our store;
  • automatically when you use our website, through cookies and similar technologies; and
  • from third parties where it is reasonably necessary – for example, manufacturers, distributors or service providers in connection with warranty claims, recalls or parts orders – or where you have agreed to it.

Wherever practical, you can deal with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym (for example, for a general enquiry). However, we will need your details to provide quotes, process orders or carry out work on your vehicle or equipment.

3. How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and provide quotes;
  • process, fulfil and deliver your orders, including our pick-up and delivery services;
  • carry out servicing, repairs and roadworthy inspections, and manage warranty claims and product recalls;
  • manage your account and provide customer support;
  • operate, secure and improve our website, and understand how visitors use it;
  • let you know about our products, services, events and specials, and show you relevant advertising (see “Direct marketing” below); and
  • meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.

4. Who we disclose personal information to

We may share your personal information with:

  • service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting and maintenance, IT and email providers, payment processors, and couriers or delivery services;
  • vehicle and equipment manufacturers and distributors (such as Kawasaki), where needed for warranty claims, recalls or parts orders;
  • advertising and analytics providers, such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google, through the cookies described in our Cookie Policy;
  • our professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers and insurers; and
  • government agencies, regulators or law enforcement, where we are required or authorised by law to do so.

We do not sell your personal information. You can opt out of us sharing information with advertising partners through cookies at any time – see our Cookie Policy.

5. Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use – including Meta, Google, Cloudflare and cloud-based hosting and email providers – may store or process personal information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they or their data centres are located. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site secure, remember your preferences, understand how visitors find and use our website, and measure and improve our advertising – including the Meta Pixel and Google advertising tags. You can opt out of non-essential cookies using our cookie banner or your browser settings. Full details, including a list of the cookies we use, are in our Cookie Policy.

7. Direct marketing

We may use your contact details to tell you about our products, services, events and specials where you have agreed to this or would reasonably expect it. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us using the details below.

You can also control the ads you see on other platforms through your Meta ad preferences (in your Facebook or Instagram settings) and Google’s My Ad Center at myadcenter.google.com.

8. How we protect your personal information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website, access controls and the use of reputable service providers. When we no longer need personal information for any purpose for which it may lawfully be used or disclosed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send to us online.

9. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if you think it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Please contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within a reasonable time (generally within 30 days). If we refuse your request, we will tell you why in writing.

10. Third-party websites

Our website may contain links to other websites, such as manufacturer websites and our Facebook page. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

11. Complaints

If you have a concern or complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below. We will look into it and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
